Is a product line or literary work truly dead if there is no new product being churned out?
Almost any “world” I can think of—from Conan to Middle-earth to Star Wars to Dragonlance—has continuously had new products being published almost without ceasing, from the time of the “original work” until the present day.
Say you are even a purist for the originals. The new garbage at least reminds you of why you love the old gems. It seems a vital strategy.
So with Sovereign Stone. It is made up of good novels and a good game system, albeit arguably weak support products. It had its fan base in the past, but now, no fans left?
If anything, people view it as just one part of the larger Weis/Hickman œvre.
