These three spells were created by Timothy Kidwell. I think they may have originally appeared in Old Vinnengael: City of Sorrows. They were released for free on the web in 2000. Enjoy!
Death's Memory (Fire)
There have been many times when Dwarven leaders have died under more than suspicious circumstances. This spell was developed to help ferret out assassins and murderers in a clan. By casting the spell and touching a body that hasn't been dead longer than one week the mage is able to scry into the near past and witness the deceased's last moments of life. The mage will witness everything as if he were standing next to the, now dead, individual with full sensory perception. Although the experience may seem to last a length of time, in reality it is but a fleeting dream lasting one minute.
Difficulty: 60
Know Blood (Fire)
This spell may be cast upon the mage or another individual that he designates. The spell allows the recipient to determine the source of a patch of blood. The blood must touched, be it dried or fresh. Almost instantly, he will see in his mind an image of the creature or individual who bled there. The image is so clear, that the recipient can see the face of the creature as if it were standing directly in front of him. The spell will also bestow the shaman a vague notion in which direction the creature or individual is now located. The spell, once successfully cast, will work for an entire day, regardless of the number of uses. Dwarves find this spell useful for tracking prey while hunting or chasing down wounded enemies on the plains.
This spell works just as well for the dead as the living, although the image the recipient sees may be somewhat disturbing in the former case.
Difficulty: 55
Mage-lock (Earth)
Mage-lock allows the caster to magically bar anything that he is touching that is fitted with a lock (be it a chest, drawer, door, etc.) up to horse-size, so that it cannot be opened by normal means. Not only will the key no longer work in the lock, the door or lid will not budge. The spell does not protect the recipient from damage though. So, even though a door that has been mage-locked cannot be opened, it may be broken down or destroyed. The caster may not open the target of his own mage-lock without dispelling it first. The spell's effects are permanent for the life of the caster.
Difficulty: 29
